DIRECTIONS
1. Make the Beef Patties
- In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, panko, minced shallots, Worcestershire, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
- Shape the mixture into balls, then flatten into even-sized patties.
2. Caramelize the Shallots
- In a small pan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add shallots and cook slowly for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and fragrant. This step builds deep flavor for the gravy.
3. Cook the Patties
- In a separate medium pan, heat 1 tbsp of oil over medium heat.
- Cook each patty for 3 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
4. Make the Gravy
- In the same pan with the patties or shallots, add chicken broth, bouillon, a pinch of salt and pepper, and the slurry.
- Stir and simmer for about 3 minutes until thickened. Adjust seasoning if needed. Set aside.
5. Fry the Eggs
- In a small pan, heat 1 tbsp oil over medium heat.
- Crack in the eggs and cook to your preferred doneness (3–5 minutes for sunny-side up).
🥄 Assemble the Loco Moco
- Scoop a portion of steamed rice onto a plate or bowl.
- Top with a beef patty, then a fried egg.
- Generously spoon over the gravy.
Serve hot and enjoy!
