DIRECTIONS

1. Make the Beef Patties

  1. In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, panko, minced shallots, Worcestershire, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  2. Shape the mixture into balls, then flatten into even-sized patties.

2. Caramelize the Shallots

  1. In a small pan, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Add shallots and cook slowly for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and fragrant. This step builds deep flavor for the gravy.

3. Cook the Patties

  1. In a separate medium pan, heat 1 tbsp of oil over medium heat.
  2. Cook each patty for 3 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.

4. Make the Gravy

  1. In the same pan with the patties or shallots, add chicken broth, bouillon, a pinch of salt and pepper, and the slurry.
  2. Stir and simmer for about 3 minutes until thickened. Adjust seasoning if needed. Set aside.

5. Fry the Eggs

  1. In a small pan, heat 1 tbsp oil over medium heat.
  2. Crack in the eggs and cook to your preferred doneness (3–5 minutes for sunny-side up).

🥄 Assemble the Loco Moco

  1. Scoop a portion of steamed rice onto a plate or bowl.
  2. Top with a beef patty, then a fried egg.
  3. Generously spoon over the gravy.

Serve hot and enjoy!
